Helping People by Improving Memory in Their Daily Life

Testimonials

These are actual quotes from tutors, parents or the

individuals but the names have been changed.

From the Parent of a 14 year old boy:

My son’s reading comprehension has improved significantly this year; from being in the 30-40% range last year to between 80-88% on all his reading tests this past month. Also, his football coach says he is a “different kid” this year.  He has no problem remembering the plays and is not confused on what to do.

From a Special Education Teacher of an 11 year old boy:

“I am a Resource Specialist at **** School. I have had the pleasure of working with DR over the past year. DR is currently a sixth grader who has been diagnosed with ADHD and a Specific Learning Disability. In the past, he has struggled with attending to tasks for a sustained amount of time and was easily distracted from activities due to surrounding stimuli.

DR began doing your Cogmed program in the spring of 2008. At the start of this school year I have noticed a significant improvement in his ability to stay focused on his academic work for  longer periods of time. He appears to be more articulate when summarizing and explaining information he has read or learned in class. His ability to sequence activities seems stronger from that of last year. I am excited to see this growth in DR and really look forward to expanding on it this year!”

From the Mother of 12 year old girl:

"She's doing things she's never done before in her life . . . organizing, staying focused, and just being more mature.  It's amazing.

I asked my daughter's teacher to fill out a questionnaire regarding the attention problems, the teacher just looked at me and said, "None of this is like [Suzie] at all."

From the tutor of a 9 year old girl who has completed 3 weeks of Cogmed training:

"I have not seen Susie in about a week as I have been out of town.  In my time with Susie I have noticed that her attention span seems to be improving drastically.  She is able to focus on a topic for approximately 15-20 minutes. . . .Susie is fighting doing her homework activities less and less lately.  She seems to be less frustrated with math and life in general.  I have not seen Susie have a major melt down since beginning Cogmed."

From the mom of the same girl:

"We see emotional stabilization in Susie like she has never had.  She usually flies off the handle and has frequent meltdowns, now she is thinking before she reacts which now is much more age appropriate.  We see a cleaner room.  Susie is more interested in doing age appropriate things (from playing with friends, to self-care)."

From the mother of a 15 year old girl:

"Tests have always been a problem for Gwen.  After failing miserably on her written driver's license exam twice, she took it again recently, and only missed one item -- she said she felt like it was easier because she could remember everything she had studied for!"

From the mother of another 9 year old girl who completed the Cogmed training at the end of the school year:

"Melissa's teacher reports she is much more engaged in classroom discussions and is able to get her work done in a more timely manner.  Melissa's piano teacher asked: 'What has happened to Melissa?  She has made more progress in this past month than she did since the beginning of the year?'"  Also, for the first time in her life, she went out and started riding her bike -- which she has never been able to do before."

From the wife of a 50+ year old brain injured (car accident) man:

"Rodney is able to stayed focused and pay attention in conversations better than before.  And he doesn't react as much; he is able to listen without interrupting, and he doesn't get as mad."

Rodney himself reports:  "I am able to plan projects better that have multiple steps.  I feel like I am thinking more clearly."

From a 17 year old ADHD girl who is doing the training (not on medication -- she usually takes meds):

"It (the training) is hard.  It takes effort and I have to work hard at concentrating.  I have to work where there aren't any distractions.  But I am improving.  I can remember more and more information.  I hope when I am done maybe I won't have to take meds anymore."

From the mother of a 10 year old boy:

"At first I wasn't sure if there was any difference.  But now we notice little things.  He is not forgetting things like he used to.  In fact, the other day, when we were leaving school, he stopped and said: 'I forgot my backpack' and went back and got it.  And then last week he came down with all of his swimming things in a bag, ready to go -- that was the first time that has ever happened!"
